They say good things come to those who wait, and never has that been truer than with Green Room, the brand-new plant-based rooftop bar set to open its doors this summer. Initially scheduled to open in 2021, Green Room brings a fresh take on social, sustainable dining, drinking and dancing to Wellington Street – the perfect location for after work drinks, pre-train snacks or meet-ups with friends.
Founded by entrepreneurs Will Habergham and Kirk Allen, Green Room’s central concept is all about environmental consciousness and multifunctionality, with the venue providing a space that’s just as good for morning brews as it is for late night dancing.
During the day, Green Room will serve up North Star coffee, as well a range of healthy, plant-based breakfasts and brunches, with fresh ingredients supplied by Oakwood’s Grön Kafe. The south-facing, sun-soaked terrace offers a relaxing vantage point for kicking back and relaxing with a bite to eat – and when the sun sets and the bar opens, it’s the perfect place for sipping a cocktail to some great live music or even a cheeky DJ set.
With mixologists on hand to whip up a selection of delicious tipples, a range of wines and and beer from locals including Kirkstall Brewery and Northern Monk on tap, Green Room has all your evening needs catered for too. Think of it as the place where nightlife, wellbeing and sustainability meet – with yummy food and drinks never far away either.
Green Room’s ethos is – well, green, with recycling, reclaiming and reusing baked into its renovation practices, and a vegan menu putting plant-based produce centre-stage. There are even two super modern, short-stay apartments above the venue, each boasting stunning terrace and city views – and with weekends already booking up fast, it’s already on its way to becoming a Leeds hotspot.
This future icon of the Leeds rooftop scene is set to open for drinks on May 19th, when the building finish. Food service will start on June 9th, so head down for a beverage, a bite or a boogie at sunset – it’s going to be a blast.
